About Young Villa Football Club

Young Villa Football club started as a community based club to engage young people in talent management and helping each other to grow in different life skills. The club grew very fast in number of young people wanting to meet on a daily basis to train in football and netball. As more interest from young people increased to join the club, the founders were encouraged to start health talks and career growth for the young people both in football, netball, education, and business. Currently the club has highly talented young people in football and netball, every time we meet, we also do financial saving to help young people access free interest rate soft loans to run their individual development agendas. The club signed a partnership with Kagando hospital to support health education on different diseases including HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Hepatitis B and C, COVID-19, among others.

Our Approach to work

Games and sports in Uganda are neglected avenues for promoting young people’s health and yet games provide a great deal of learning opportunities from each other regarding real life challenges and opportunities. We are therefore using soccer to enhance young people’s knowledge of HIV/AIDS, form self-help groups to transform their lives, help them access entrepreneurship knowledge for income sustainability and promote girls’ rights access to health, education, employment, social support and community local leadership. This approach is very innovative because it directly engages the beneficiaries along other development and career activities; the innovation of using games and sports is very cheap and sustainable requiring no external resources once you create a body of knowledge among players, commentators and observers as a whole.
